here i am---when the sun goes down It just didn't help when it was one of those days. Granted, the past few weeks had been great with Kammy, not a single seizure. That alone lifted a huge load off Lance's shoulders. Her pills cost money, something they didn't really have, and the fewer seizure, the more pills they had to spare. Lance just hoped it would stay that way for a bit longer. Not only that, but Kammy was being the least bit more friendly towards people, no longer was she so scared she couldn't leave the house, she actually went to a day care today and the report from the caretaker was great, she barely talked, but she played. That was important. Unfortunately, the good ended there. Nicolas was gone, again. The fight had been worse than usual. Nicolas was angry at something, he screamed so loud this time, Lance didn't even know what was wrong. Kammy just hid in her room, scared to come out, and Nicolas blamed Lance for that. Then, he broke a mirror and left. It took two hours to get Kammy out of her room and when she did, she was quiet, just played with dolls with some music playing in the background. A social worker called that morning, asking if Nicolas was doing okay, and she asked about Kammy too. That made Lance nervous, when Nicolas got caught, god knows what he said about Lance to the police. There was actually someone who came to 'check in' on how everyone was doing in the house. Ryan Hudson was still gone, left for the front lines in the war, with him gone, Lance was the only one in the house, and he was only twenty. There must of been some contemplation of placing Kammy somewhere else, but something worked in his favor, probably something came in from his father, because the worker left with nothing more than a 'good job, considering the circumstances'. Next on the list, there was no food in the house. Kammy refused to leave the house, so shopping was out of the question. He would call for some food, but he was a little short on cash at the moment. So he did something he never really liked to do. He called in a friend. Asked them if they wouldn't mind picking something up, like Chinese or pizza. They had said yes, but he didn't like to depend on people for something like that. So there they were, Lance sat on the couch watching TV, with Kammy napping on his lap. He watched her breath in and out, sleeping so peacefully, there was even a little smile on her face. She was missing her two front teeth. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Kammy woke up, she knew what that was, she knew food was behind that door. Lance got up, Kammy just remained on the couch, grabbed the remote and turned the channel to some cartoon and smoothed out her pink dress. Lance turned the knob on the door and greeted with the smile. " Hey, thanks for coming."

When she received his call she was in the midst of doing nothing. She was simply on the computer looking for something to do. Lately she’d just been with Kolby so often that she’d lost sight on other things like her other friends and her school work, which was incredibly unlike herself. So when his call came in she was happy that she could be doing something other than sitting in front of the computer screen hoping someone would call.
She had known Lance for a while now. They’d shared classes at the College together and studied quite a few times together. He was good to be around in the sense that he could keep up with her. He too was smart and received good marks in school. He wasn’t like the other college kids there to party it up and skim by with Cs. She knew it was partially because of his home life situation, which they had briefly talked about at one point. She didn’t know too much but she knew it wasn’t easy for him.
When she answered he seemed tired, and a bit preoccupied. He had asked her to come by his place with food. Nothing odd about that she figured, only she’d never been over his house. She asked him for his address and assured him she’d be there in a few. He hadn’t mentioned anything about what they’d do, but she figured they’d just hang out and talk. This sort of worried her as she wasn’t much for personal talk but she was sure she could weasel her way out of too personal subjects.
She quickly got dressed in more appropriate attire than sweats and a tank and got in her car. She drove half way there when she remembered the food. She didn’t know what to get he’d said either pizza or Chinese she didn’t know what he could possibly want so she decided she’d stop at both and stock up on everything. She entered the Chinese restaurant and ordered a little bit of everything. She then went to the pizzeria and ordered a whole pizza half just cheese and half everything. She figured that would be good. She had half a mind to get Mexican which was just next door but decided it’d be over doing it.
She got back into her car and drove to his place. She took the bag of Chinese and the box of pizza, when she got to the door she didn’t know how to knock and felt pretty stupid, she should’ve just left one in the car, but of course she didn’t think it through. So instead of knocking she gently kicked at the door and waited for an answer. When he opened and thanked her for coming she smiled widely. “Sure…” she almost lost her grip on the large pizza box but regained her grip on it rather quickly for someone with such a lack of hand eye coordination.
“I think I may have gotten too much food?” she laughed.

here i am---when the sun goes down It was a great site, Andrea Bennett, also known as Andee, was at his door, her arms full of food, several cartons of Chinese food and a whole pizza. Much more than he expected, but that was okay, great even. As small as Kammy was, she ate like a horse and leftovers were the best, she loved them. Lance took the Chinese from her and opened the door wider, letting her in. Lance looked at Kammy and subtly pointed to the kitchen. She carefully got off the couch and ran into the other room, soon emerging with three plates, napkins and forks and set them down on the coffee table that was centered in front of the couches. Lance looked around, feeling suddenly very aware of his house, it wasnt a mess, it was really clean, technically. Books stacked everywhere, magazines, articles, a bunch of school crap.
"Don't worry about it, in fact, it's probably not enough with everything Kammy eats. Lance joked, setting the warm, deliciously smelling cartons onto the table. He smiled and smoothed out a bit of Kammy's hair, while she just smiled a toothy smile and shrunk into her shoulders the way she usually did. "I don't think you two have been formally introduced." Lance started. Andee was a pretty cool girl. They were similar in a lot of ways, she was really, really smart. She was one of those girls who really didn't take no for answer, was real set on her goals. She was also different from himself. She was more... intense, he guessed. That wasn't a bad thing, by any means. Lance saw her at school every once in a while, it seemed like they were always fighting it out for the top spot. Andee was incredibly focused, headstrong. Something Lance wish he was.
"Kammy, this is Andee, we go to school together," Lance pulled her from behind him, where she seemed intent on hiding. Her fair skin was blushed pink, the way it always was when she met people. "Andee, this is my little sister, Kammy."
Kammy gave her a slight wave, avoiding eye contact. Her blond bangs covered her eyes just a bit, she clung onto Lance's jeans with one hand and switched her balance between feet. "Thank you for coming over. I really like pizza and Chinese food." She said quickly and quietly before turning around to the table, where she immediately started to set it, putting plates, folded napkins and forks into place. Kammy was like that, a bit of a perfectionist, a neat freak, nothing too normal for a six year old.
Lance was suddenly overwhelmed with a feeling of hunger. Kammy waited patiently, sitting down on the floor in front of a plate, looking at Lance to set her up with something to eat. Lance and Andee sat down, with the cartoon still drowning in the background.
