“Like, like that” she pointed at his face and did a little circling motion with her finger as if that explained it all. “It’s not easy, not for someone like me” she said honestly breathing a little heavier than usual as he was on top of her cutting off a bit of her oxygen, not enough to really bother her. “no” she smiled shaking her head. “not one bit” she said when he asked her if he made her uncomfortable. It was a bit of a lie, but it was becoming more and more true as time passed by. She looked into his eyes he did seem as if he was holding back from doing something that she actually for the first time realized she wanted him to do. She moved her head up a bit so that she was closer to his face even more but stopped before she herself could do something crazy. She wasn’t going to be the one to set in motion some awkwardness. “Oomph” she let out a noise as he bounced on her a little more. It didn’t really bother her but she figured if he thought it did he’d get off… though, did she really want him to? That was the question.
”So? What are you going to do now?” she laughed and propped herself on her elbows. “Nothing” she said simply, her hair falling into her face and over her shoulders “you’ll tire eventually” she said and let herself fall back onto the couch “or the food will get here and you’ll have to go get it.” She said reasonably. “I can wait” she smiled looking up at him. She’d never been like this with a guy, him on top of her and her under out of breath. Though, it wasn’t really like that. This was friendlier. She kind of wished otherwise, but didn’t really let it show.
Andee had a total of two boyfriends in her life. One back in second grade, that lasted all about three hours. And one in high school, though it was mostly for show. They did have sex though, that’s about all they did that counted as a real relationship. She liked him enough; he was good looking, and had a bright future ahead of him. Everyone expected her to marry him out of high school; she did too, until she left. They weren’t in love; she knew that, he knew that, she refused to settle. She did miss the sex though. Her smile faded for a brief second as she thought of all this. She picked it right back up though. “aand Chewy would save me if I asked him to”

”I just like looking at people. Is that so wrong?” His blue eyes gazed at her still. Maybe they just pierced into her on their own. They were so interesting, the bright shade with his dark features. Kolby heard her hard breathing and slipped off of her. Squishing her back into the big couch as he sat in front of her leaning back on her hips, still looking down at her. ”I think you would stop breathing first. Who would want that?’ Kolby had straight up forgot about the food even coming. He shook his head as she spoke. ”Chewy listens to me, he may like you but he knows who the boss is.” His childish smile riddled his face as he heard a knock on the door.
Jumping out of his seat before she could think he answered the door. Greeting the delivery driver and taking the pizza in his hands. Pulling his wallet from his back pocket he quickly handed the driver enough for the pizza plus a pretty good tip. Smiling back at Andee as he shut the door holding the pizza in his hands. ”I pay and you just nevermind!” He laughed as he stepped towards her. ”Pizza is served madam” Smiling he set the pizza down on her on the couch and sat down in his spot again. Opening the box he took out a piece and took a bite. Sitting quietly as he held her on the couch with the warm pizza on top of her. Just a smile as he bit back eat bite, one slow odd seeming bite at a time. It seemed like chewing took him forever as he watched her and bit into the pizza at the same time. Not one more word as he slowly chewed each bite quietly. Odd, it much have been pretty creepy to her watching.

“NO it’s not wrong … it’s .. weird” she smiled. She really did like his blue eyes. She felt kind of plain with her own eyes, a dull brown, like everyone else. There was nothing really special about them, or any other of her features. She had brown hair also, and fair, almost pale skin. She was incredibly petite, standing at only five foot one and she was skinny too. It never really bothered her. She found it was easier to blend than stick out. She probably would’ve been better off prettier though, maybe her mother would appreciate an obvious beauty better, and not forced her to prove her looks with pageants and other ridiculous things.
”I think you would stop breathing first. Who would want that?’ she was about to answer the question in honesty with a ‘I don’t think anyone would mind’ but refrained from doing so. When he spoke again of chewy she laughed. “chewy LOVES me” she told him. She was about to add more to the statement when there was knocking. She flew after him getting off the couch quite clumsily and running to the door. She shoved into Kolby falling back herself seeing how he was much stronger and heavier than her. She put her hands in her pockets to find nothing in them ‘I left my firkin wallet in the car’ she thought and watched helplessly as Kolby paid the Delivery guy. She sulked back to the couch.
“Hmph” she said when he told her to never mind. “Pizza is served madam” She took the pizza box and opened it she gave it a quick survey and took the smallest piece. She took a deep breath inhaling the goodness of it and took the tiniest of bites into the crust- she ate her pizza backwards- she looked at him eating his own pizza and couldn’t help laugh at the way he ate. “Good huh?” she asked taking another little bite. She could keep this up all night taking the smallest of bites while he ate the rest and by the time she was done with one slice oops the rest would be gone, but not at the rate he was eating!

Blue eyes rolled in their sockets as he listened to her speak. ”Chewy loves everyone” Was his smart assed reply as he was proud he paid for the pizza. ”I told you, I win.” Smiling as he bit into his piece. He had a tactic for the slow eating girl. They always ate slow, ha! Well two could play at that game. That was always the game they played, pretending they are hungry and only eating one slice of pizza. He would beat her before she even began playing. A mind reader maybe, a smart ass, for sure! Watching her eat the piece backwards he didn’t say a word. Simple bit down and slowly chewed his next bite. Kolby had a lot of women friends back home, they seemed to thrive off of his crazy attitude, and well Kolby was never a big ‘hump them then dump them’ kind of guy. To his best knowledge Kolby didn’t have many girlfriends at all, a couple high school sweethearts but nothing ever serious enough for him. There was this one girl after high school, she hung out with the wrong crowd and well, he was making decent money as a apprentice mechanic at the time. He was in love, she sure wasn’t. She used him for every penny and bit he ever had. Draining most of the sincere love Kolby ever held for another woman.
He could tell anyone anything. But three words struck the hardest. Kolby would never love a woman again. To him, that was his only bit of being a closed book. Flirting and flirting, being crazy Kolby, but never really letting go. That gold digging whore. Why were women like that? She seemed to be warming up to him quickly. That was fine in his eyes, but blocking out women for so long left him a little clueless in the love department. Kissing a random girl for fun was one thing, kissing a girl because he liked her was another. So many thoughts for a bachelor eh? She made him think. She was so blocked off and yet warming up so quick he didn’t know what to think. Did she like him? What was she thinking? What was he thinking? Did he like her? What was wrong. Being a single man is hard when the women want you right? He never thought of it that way. He’d been known to flirt over and over with a girl for months and never do a thing. She would eventually get bored and give up, he would never understand. Maybe that was a lack of a female role model? A police officer would rarely ever tell his son he loved him. His mind snapped back to reality as she spoke again. ”Yeah, the pizza’s good.” Smiling once again he looked back at her. How could one man think so much and so random. Guessing the thought crossed him mind she wanted to make a move but was scared. What a match.

“Yupp” she said regarding the pizza and took another bite. By now she was half way done and he wasn’t even close. “You eat too damn slow” she told him. “way way way too slow” she laughed not thinking that he could turn around and say she was taking microscopic bites. She shrugged. “the pizza’s gonna get cold by the time your done.” She finally finished. She took another deep breath slowly exhaling. She opened up the box again and looked for another small piece. She just held it this time not really biting or smelling it.
“what are you thinking?” she asked genuinely curious. She liked to know what was going through peoples’ minds, not that she ever really shared what was going through hers. She still held the pizza in her hand. She wasn’t planning on eating the damn thing but subconsciously took a bite. She scolded herself for it mentally. She couldn’t do this, couldn’t gain any more weight. Then again, she thought, she could always run it off so she shrugged and swallowed the piece. Still her mother’s words echoed in her mind.
Her parents called her frequently and for some reason she always answered the call, video chat, email whatever method of communication they deemed necessary. They always had something to say. Never anything good. She hated how it effected her, what they said. But it was all true. And it wasn’t like they were being mean or anything, they were merely being constructive, and helping to better her. She needed a lot of correcting. Lately though, she felt like screaming at them. Telling them to stop for once to just stop, of course she couldn’t do that. She respected her parents.

He laughed at her comment about eating slow, ”Slower I eat the less of a girl you get to be!” Laughing still as he swallowed his last bite. Still she was much farther into her piece than he was, good plan boy. ”I got a microwave.” Smiling as his laugh faded he gulped the last half of the pizza down in one bite. Sitting back on the couch as he chewed the huge piece. He kept chewing as she spoke again, no thoughts out loud when your mouth is too full of pizza right? He finally finished and smiled, ”I was just thinking how much you like me.” Laughing slightly he almost choked before he swallowed the last bit in his mouth. Grabbing another piece he yawned a bit. Taking a normal sized bite and chewing like a normal human being. Smile still on his face like an idiot with a handful of candy.
Kolby unlike Andee didn’t have anyone to answer to. Chewy and Boomer didn’t care if he got fat. Hell they didn’t care what he did as long as he fed and watered them. That was the way it was. He never worried about what other people thought. That was a big different between the two. He could tell she was always thinking about something. That really needed to stop. It seemed to stop her from purely enjoying herself the same way he did. Yes he had his pain too, but that never bothered him. Past is the past and he would always live for the future. Thinking was overrated and hell he did it a bit too much anyway right? Hells yeah. He hated thinking, he might hurt his head.

She rolled her eyes at his comment, “I’m not trying to be a girl” she said, it was true. It had nothing to do with the fact that she thought she was fat, or needed to lose any weight, she thought she was fine as is. Obviously it wasn’t true, but still, it wasn’t her trying to be a girl or anything. She scrunched up her face at the word microwave. “That’s horrible” she told him. “microwaved pizza? ick” she laughed. She was never one to reheat her food. She always had enough to just go out and buy more food, or she’d finish it all in one sitting so there was no more left to reheat. She usually ate alone. SO there was no guilt in eating the whole meal. She rolled her eyes as he took the rest of the pizza in one bite, he could obviously eat at a much faster rate but was really just eating slow to bug her.
”I was just thinking how much you like me.” she practically choked on the bite of pizza she didn’t know she didn’t know she’d taken. “Yeah, I think it’s the other way around” she shook her head. “I mean,” she began to clarify, she didn’t want him to think she didn’t like him, she did, but she didn’t want him to think that she liked him in thatway, whether or not she did was beside the point. “I guess you’re ok” she said with a smirk “but it doesn’t merit me liking you so much.” She took another bite this time she realized it the second it hit her mouth. She was now angry at him for distracting her into eating, but then again, it was really good pizza, so , she could forgive him. Anyway, this gave her an excuse to go running the next day.
Running was something she was good at all on her own. NO one could say anything bad about her running, it was healthy, it was something no one thought twice about. She loved it. She loved the feeling of burning in her chest when she ran too fast, too far. She loved that when you did run too fast and too far it felt as if you were flying, just barely feeling the pavement on the ground. It was fun, it was freeing and most importantly it was hers, just hers. You could say she took the idea of running and brought it into her everyday life. She was not only a physical runner, she was an emotional one too. When things got scary, or difficult, she’d run. She’d left Manhattan for those reasons. She’d escaped any form of relationship she could possibly get into. She was a runner, and that was fine with her. Only, it really wasn’t.

Kolby laughed a bit. A bachelor eats lots of take out and well, most of the time they don’t eat a whole pizza to themselves. It makes a good breakfast or lunch the next day. He had the odd thing around the house. Granola bars, cereal, milk, pop, bread, some things to make sandwiches but there wasn’t really much, maybe a box of Kraft dinner and some butter. A man’s house wasn’t really an exciting place when it came to food. Especially when no one taught a boy to cook. A father that never knew how to cook growing up makes it hard for a growing man to learn how. He sure knew how to work a phone and a phone book. Delivery, take out and even eating in, that was the lifestyle he had been taught. He didn’t make a comment about the microwave. If she looked in the fridge there was probably day old Chinese food and some stale pizza.
”I’m just ok?” He must have been really trying to sound offended because he kind of sounded stupid. It might have been him thinking to hard but who really knows what goes on in the mind of a twenty four year old man? Surely not him. He laughed a little bit to shake off the awkward moment. His stunning blue eyes watched her slightly as he took another bite of the pizza. Blue eyes looked at the nearly full box as he took another bite of pizza. Kolby must have been getting sick of pizza. Could a man ever get sick of pizza? Somehow he still managed to not be a total fat ass. He did still have pretty much what most people called a six pack. He didn’t pay much attention, there was some work out equipment downstairs he played with every now and then. Being a mechanic was pretty hard work some days. Then again who hasn’t met a fat lazy mechanic? He sure had, but running was so solution to weight loss. A high metabolism and lots of work and even some occasional work out sessions kept him in pretty decent shape. He couldn’t run very fast or hard without hacking out a lung, but if he had to be quick he could be on foot.
Somehow Kolby still seemed like a pretty lazy guy. It even looked like he had spent a night or two on the couch they sat on. The pillow and blanket had been kicked off to the side of the couch. Guess it didn’t matter where a person slept if they lived alone. Men being men, that left Kolby with a loss of words. He had no idea what to talk about. He had the idea of buying all these things tomorrow. He thought of the hot tub he would buy the next day. To get it up to the room he would have to buy one that came in pieces or a soft tub. Hat a hard choice for a spur of the moment buyer. Then again he had all night to think about it.
