ROLEPLAY SAMPLERelief flickered inside of Gabi to see Nate approaching her. As much as she adored the city, it was always a bit sketchy at night, especially if you were a teen-aged girl, alone, and defenseless. Gabi was pretty sure she had a mean left hook, and her kick-boxing skills were definitely up to par. However, in the long run, this wouldn’t necessarily save her ass. That didn’t matter, of course, because Nate was right on time. Gabi hadn’t expected him to be late, and if he was, she wouldn’t care at all. He always showed, no matter how baked, she learned that, and she remembered that.
Nate’s smoking was nothing new to Gabi. He’d started before they dated, and Gabriella easily accepted that. She was not a so-called stoner herself, but had experimented at a few parties. Before then, she would have dubbed the habit as trashy and distasteful, yet actually being high was not all that bad. There, I said it. Then it hit her; most of the things teenaged girls (and guys) do these days are displeasing, and actually hurt other people. For example, cheating on their boyfriends, backstabbing their best friends, lying, whatever. In all honesty, Gabs would rather be distasteful for getting high now and then rather than betraying anyone. All right, it’s a bit of a stretch, you understand. Bottom line, if Nate was yet to hurt her with his smoking, she could certainly put up with it.
“Hi there,” Gabi greeted him with a pleasant voice, somewhat quieter than her usual tone, but just as genuine. Eyes followed him as he came nearer and nearer, before he was right beside her on the bench. Lips could not resist a smile, the idea of what they were doing, or rather when they were meeting, humored her. Not everyone met up at 2 am downtown because they were having a hard time sleeping. That was another factor of why Gabi and Nate got along so well as friends; they were spontaneous. Spontaneous and accepting. Sure, the duo had a few differences, but that is likely in any friendship. Gabi isn’t afraid to check Nate, and she had a good idea that he’d do the same. You know, tell each other when they were being an ass or down right stupid.
“What are you lookin’ at?” Gabi questioned with light humor, catching him looking at her from the corner of his eye. She was a natural flirt, if that remark could even be considered flirty. Gabi knew that their relationship was in the past, for the most part, and she respected that. She respected Blair, and hoped to God that Nate understood that. A smirk spread across her face as she shifted her body to look at him. Deep down, Gabi knew she found each of his subtle gestures sexy, or even cute. That very well could have been due to his overall appeal; yes, that was it. Nate was an attractive boy, anyone could safely own up to that, even friends. Right?
