OVERALL HISTORY

• on may third, nineteen eighty-three, maximus peter golightly was born the first child to benjamin and eloise golightly. he was a miracle child. after being delivered via c-section, a large amount of fluid got caught in his lungs. he was in the nicu for three weeks before recovering. the doctors thought he was going to die from respiratory difficulties. the couple brought him back to their penthouse on the upper east side and promised that they wouldn't let him be raised by nannies and strangers as they were raised.
  
• the year max turned six was the year his sister, lucy, was adopted. benjamin and eloise had been trying for years to have another child. it wasn't until max was five that they gave in and went through with the adoption process. it took a year for the couple to complete the psychological evaluations, the paperwork, and the background checks required for adopting a child. finally, they got their tiny bundle of newborn joy. they named her lucy maud golightly, after eloise's favorite author growing up, lucy maud montgomery.
